My mother-in-law made a delicious pie and I think it may be the easiest pie recipe I’ve ever seen!
The Recipe
1/4 cup water
1 package strawberry Jello
2-6 oz containers of strawberry yogurt
8 oz Cool Whip
1 Graham Cracker Pie Crust
Mix together the water and Jello. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Whisk in yogurt and Cool Whip. Pour into pie crust and refrigerate until set.
Is it a Keeper?
Yes, yes, yes!!! This pie is a great dessert for hot, summer nights! It’s cool, fluffy and light. Perfection! And, it’s an easy dessert to whip up when you find out you’re getting unexpected company!
It’s so easy to make variations on this recipe too! My MIL did the strawberry version, like the recipe called for, but then, she made a pineapple version that was just as good! She used Island Pineapple Jello, Pina Colada yogurt and added a small can of drained crushed pineapple!
I love the idea of adding fruit to the pie too! Next time, I’ll add chopped fresh strawberries!
As we were devouring our dessert, we were discussing the different variations that might be good, such as:
- Orange Jello/Creamsicle Yogurt/Mandarin oranges
- Cherry Jello/Cherry Yogurt/Chopped fresh cherries
- Raspberry Jello/Raspberry Yogurt/Fresh raspberries
- Lemon Jello/Lemon Yogurt
- Peach Jello/Peach Yogurt/Chopped fresh peaches
Or, you could mix up the crusts by using an Oreo crust or a shortbread crust!
This recipe is just so versatile! You can make whatever your family loves!
Next time, when I make it, I’m going to use sugar-free Jello, yogurt and Cool Whip. It will be a great treat for my diabetic grandmother!
What flavors would you make?

Sounds great. I’ll be giving this one a try before long!
Thanks!
You won’t be sorry!!! So far, we’ve had strawberry, pineapple and orange. My fave is the orange!
It’s even better when you add fresh fruit, too!
Enjoy!
I would love to try this but with an allergy to beef products, what do you suggest I substitute for the jello ?
I can find something instead of yogurt with no problem .
These pies sound so tasty and refreshing and light.
That’s a great question, Flavia! I honestly don’t know the answer though. I will post your question on my Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/ItsAKeeper, and see if anyone can help. I’ll be sure to post the results here.

My aunt makes something like this all time – with no Jello! She uses a container of frozen strawberries instead! I mixed the berries and yogurt in a blender, fold in the cool whip, put in the shell and freeze.
Great suggestion, Claire! This sounds like a great alternative to using jello! I’ll have to give it a try!
