It’s a Keeper has moved! Come on over to www.everydaytastes.com.
The other day, I stumbled upon this recipe for Sesame Noodles on The Pioneer Woman Cooks blog. I was in the mood for Asian food and her photos of the dish were really enticing! These noodles looked so flipping good! I couldn’t wait to try them!
The Recipe
1/4 cup soy sauce
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
2-3 Tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp hot chili oil
4-5 Tbsp canola oil
1 pound spaghetti, cooked
Green onions, chopped
Combine the first 7 ingredients together in a small bowl and whisk until thoroughly combined. Pour sauce over warm, cooked noodles and top with chopped green onions.
Is it a Keeper?
While I love Asian food, I haven’t made it very much. Being as curious as I am, I tasted the sauce throughout the process. I wanted to see how each of the ingredients affected the flavor. I have to admit that I wasn’t very crazy about it. At first, it was bland and then, once the sesame oil was added, the sesame flavor was very VERY strong!
However, once everything was together this dish was TO-DIE-FOR! I don’t know how…but it was! It was very flavorful — although the sesame oil was a bit strong (I might cut back the next time I make this). It was also super fast to make. A great dinner for when you don’t-know-what-to-make-for-dinner-but-are-too-hungry-to-put-alot-of-effort-into-it.
I think that next time, I’m going to add some cooked chicken and snow peas! YUM!
Oh, and, I used whole-wheat spaghetti as the noodles and omitted the chili oil — I couldn’t find any at my grocery store.
Thanks for the great recipe, Ree! I know I’ll be making this again and again!

Let me know what you think! Very good and very easy!
Your sesame noodles look very good – I love the flavor of sesame oil, but agree that it can be so strong…… I have a great Thai noodle recipe similar to this, but with peanut butter.
Thanks, Tracy! Would you be willing to share your Thai noodle recipe? I’m loving Thai noodles these days. I just had the best Drunken Noodles from a local Thai place last week — they were to die for!
Thanks for reading!
LOVE sesame noodles! I need to try this ASAP! Hmmm…wish I could have this for breakfast today : )

Love asian food , sometimes I use sesame oil blened with
soybean oil and it has a different taste maybe it would be more mild than pure sesame oil.
This does look pretty easy and I am pretty sure that my family would love it. Thanks for the heads up on the sesame oil. I don’t like certain foods that have a really strong flavor, so this way I’ll know to cut it back a bit when I make it.

I’ve been making something similar to this and never knew what to call it. hahaha. My husband always gets mad because I don’t write down what I put in what I’m cooking, now I have it written down for me. Thanks!
This works great with Tinkyada gluten free noodles for those who can’t eat gluten (like me).

How delicious!! My 4 year old daughter’s favorite food is “Chinese noodles,” she calls them. She’s sitting with me now and personally asked me to make them tonight (she was excited and jumping up and down a little when she said it). Miriam@Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters

You were smart to leave out the chili oil. I was thinking that just before I read that you did it. But this is a side dish
Here’s what I’m thinking it goes with.
