One day, while at a lunch meeting, I tried sweet potato fries for the first time. It was all downhill from there. Now, I’m a sweet potato fry seeking machine! Those little orangey sticks are so good! But, I’m noticing that many restaurants don’t carry them. What’s a girl to do?
Well, this girl decided to make her own! How hard could it be?!?! Famous last words, right?!?! Actually, there are only 3 ingredients and it wasn’t that hard. Here’s what I did:
2 Sweet potatoes, peeled
3 T Canola oil
1 T seasoned salt
Cut peeled sweet potatoes into 3/4 inch sticks. Pat dry. Toss potatoes with oil and sprinkle with seasoning. Spread out on baking sheet, making sure that the sticks aren’t touching. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes, turning potatoes half-way through baking.
Is it a Keeper?
These were pretty good! They weren’t the same as you would get in a restaurant, but then again, I didn’t deep fry mine. These fries have a softer texture than regular french fries and they’re pretty sweet (as the name implies!). This is a good side dish recipe to have on hand! And, you can’t beat the fact that it only has 3 ingredients!
As with regular french fries, you need something to dip your sweet potato fries into, right?!? I’ve tried both ranch dressing and honey mustard. Both are pretty good options, but, personally, I like them plain!
What’s your favorite sweet potato fry dipping sauce?
