Ok, so I feel bad that I’ve posted two not-so-stellar recipes in a row. But, my goal for this project was to cook my way through the and report back — good, bad or ugly. So, I’m going to post a tried and true favorite — Slow cooker Salisbury Steak.
I think this recipe is my husband’s favorite dinner of all time. His eyes light up when I suggest making this for dinner. It was even the inspiration for our annual holiday cookbook that we make for our family and friends. Check it out! And, if you do a little prep work ahead of time, it’s really an easy weeknight dinner!
Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
2 pounds ground beef
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
½ cup seasoned breadcrumbs
¼ cup milk
¼ all purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 (1 ounce) packet dry au jus mix
¾ cup water
1. Mix together ground beef, onion soup mix, breadcrumbs and milk
2. Shape into 8 patties
3. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat
4. Dredge the patties in flour to coat and quickly brown on both sides
5. Place browned patties in slow cooker, stacking like a pyramid
6. In a separate bowl, mix together cream of chicken soup, au jus mix and water
7. Pour over patties
8. Cook on low setting for 4 to 5 hours or until meat is well done
SUGGESTION: You can form and brown the patties ahead of time and store in the fridge until ready to use.

Ooooh, what a yummy looking recipe. I like that you added the au jus mix (and the onion soup mix). I have never made this in the crockpot so thanks for giving me a new option, and thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
My husband and I were talking about the fact that our kids have never had Salsburry steak. I think this will be on our menu next time around!
My 4 year old LOVES this meal! He gobbles up his entire plate of food without any complaints! I always add an extra can of soup, too, to make more gravy. I hope your family loves it as much as we do!
Your slow cooker steak sounds really good. I love slow cooker recipes and will try this one very soon. Thank you so much for sharing it.

This looks so delicious. I love the flavors and am always looking for new crock pot recipes.
Bookmarking this one to try soon!!!!!!!!
How many would you say this feeds? It looks great, I’m bookmarking it to make it, just wondering if I would need to double it or not. 6 mouths to feed in this family!
When I make it, I can usually serve 4 adults and 1 4-year old child and still have a 1 or 2 left over for lunch the next day. I don’t make them huge though. When I form the patties, I try to keep them on the thinner side. I hope this helps.
Mmmmmm. This would be perfect for winter dinners. Thank you for sharing! This recipe was the MOST popular @ Prairie Story Recipe Swap and you will be featured tomorrow. Thanks again! ~Alison
WOW! That’s awesome, Alison! This is such a great recipe! I’m happy to share! 🙂
I made this for my family tonight for dinner. It is AWESOME! Tastes exactly like Salisbury Steak should taste! Thank you so much for sharing.
BTW – we made this for three adults and four children and it was the perfect amount. We were all full and there were no left overs. And we are pretty big eaters (I must say – I think it made 10 patties though when I made them. . )
So glad you like it, Angel! It’s definitely a huge fave in our house! It does make a lot and, if do get leftovers, they are just as good, if not better! Thanks for sharing your feedback! And, thanks for reading! Happy Thanksgiving!
I tried this months ago and I’m sorry i haven’t posted till now. It was wonderful..easy and oh soooooooo good. Thank you for a great recipe!!!
Thanks for the feedback, Nancy! So glad you liked it!
Thanks for reading!
We just moved to an apartment with a gas oven; finding your recipe will help me save money of crock pot vs. oven ;~)
Thanx so much…
